According to reports, Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh received a call from an unidentified caller demanding a ransom of ₹50 lakh and threatening to kill her. Following the threatening call, a written complaint was lodged at Danapur police station on Wednesday.
SDPO Bhanu Pratap Singh confirmed receiving a complaint and said that on Monday, Singh received threatening calls from two numbers. Investigation into the seriousness of these threats is underway.
Complainant Prashant Bhardwaj, Station House Officer of Danapur police station, told PTI, “The caller had demanded ₹50 lakh and threatened that if the amount was not paid within two days, the actress’s life would come under threat.
Confirming the incident, Akshara’s father Bipin Singh said: “The threatening calls came from two unknown numbers. I am more concerned with the abusive language the caller used and the serious threats he issued. We immediately reported the matter to the local police station.”.
A team from Danapur police visited the family home on Wednesday to gather information, after which Akshara Singh submitted her formal complaint.
Akshara Singh is one of the highest-paid actresses of Bhojpuri cinema and was seen debuting with Ravi Kishan in the action drama Satyamev Jayate in 2010. Some of her other notable films are Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye in 2011, A Balma Bihar Wala in 2016 opposite Khesari Lal Yadav, and Satya, Tabadla, Maa Tujhe Salaam in 2017.
