Actor Allu Arjun has thanked the Andhra Pradesh government for increasing the ticket prices of his most-anticipated movie Pushpa 2: The Rule. He posted a message on X thanking Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for being continuous in their support for the Telugu film industry.
In his statement, Allu Arjun noted, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for approving the ticket hike. This progressive decision demonstrates your steadfast commitment to the growth and prosperity of the Telugu film industry.” He also acknowledged Naidu’s vision and encouragement, as well as Kalyan’s invaluable support in empowering the sector.
If reports are anything to go by, tickets for Pushpa 2 have the highest prices ever for a Telugu film. Paid preview shows, scheduled for December 4 at 9:30 PM in select theatres, will be priced at ₹944 inclusive of GST across both single screens and multiplexes.
The government has permitted the screening of six shows daily for Pushpa 2 at ₹324.50 for single screens and ₹413 for multiplexes. Besides, the five shows a day at this rate will be permitted to continue for 12 days from December 6 to December 17.
While Telangana faced criticism, its government was also slammed for the increased ticket prices of Pushpa 2. The prices were tagged at ₹1,200 for paid previews, ₹531 for multiplexes and ₹354 for single screens in Telangana. The petition is going to be heard by the Telangana High Court today, December 3, ahead of the premiere.
Helmed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, Pushpa 2 sees Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil reprising their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, respectively. Allu Arjun reprises his role in the second installment after winning a National Film Award for his performance in the first part of this gripping saga of power struggles amidst red sandalwood smuggling. The film is set to hit theatres on December 5.
