Ananya Panday concerned over deepfake, says regulations needed.
Ahead of her upcoming Netflix film CTRL’s release, Ananya Panday expressed concerns over the rampant proliferation of deepfake videos involving celebrities.
In an interaction with media on the IIFA green carpet, Panday said as a public figure, one has little control over their images and voices being replicated.
Stating it was a ‘scary’ situation, she opined only government intervention through prudent regulations can offer a solution to curb the misuse of technologies like deepfakes.
Her Vikramaditya Motwane-directed CTRL delves into themes around artificial intelligence and relationships in the digital age.
Ananya said the trailer explores how her character asks an AI app to erase her ex-lover from her life after catching him cheating.
At the awards night, the actor noted feeling nervous yet exhilarated to perform on stage. While anxious last year, she had more fun dancing to popular numbers.
Stressing on the unparalleled rush, Ananya said once her act ended she wished to redo it immediately reflecting her improved comfort level.
With illegal deepfakes posing dangers, Panday emphasized authorities stepping in with strict laws as the sole way for public figures to feel secure online.
