Recently, Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield created a stir after he met Bollywood star Shraddha Kapoor at the ongoing Red Sea International Film Festival. Pictures of them immediately went viral, showing them posing together on the red carpet and talking to each other for some time.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Andrew spoke highly of Shraddha, saying that she is “very lovely, kind, and gentle.” He also spoke about his previous meeting with the brilliant director Zoya Akhtar, whom he met at the Marrakech International Film Festival, where they were both jury members.
Andrew shared his admiration for Zoya’s work: “I really love Zoya. I’m very excited to see her films, even though I haven’t watched any yet.” He spoke of their discussion on cinema and how they both love different film industries. “We talked about American cinema, British cinema, and Indian cinema, bonding over our mutual love for RRR, which has made a significant impact in the West,” Andrew said.
He further elaborated that the discovery of new cinematographic cultures is like “a tiger breaking through the cinema screen.” This indeed demonstrates a growing respect for Indian films on a global platform, especially as RRR did well business in the U.S. and received critical acclaim with a win in the Best Original Song category at Oscars. The song “Naatu Naatu” from the film was also performed live during the ceremony, showcasing its mass appeal across the globe.
