Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are to ensure they do not meet at the upcoming Venice Film Festival, as both of them are to screen their movies there.
The event’s artistic director, Alberto Barbera, elaborated on the arrangements: ‘Yes, Jolie will arrive on Thursday, August 29, and leave shortly thereafter with the director of Maria, Pablo Larraín, to the Telluride Film Festival. On the other hand, Pitt is due to arrive on Saturday, so the two will not meet at the Lido.
Both stars were earlier said to be booked in the same hotel. Therefore, arrangements were made to ensure they did not meet in Venice.
Jolie and Pitt, who were together for nine years and married for two before filing for divorce, have a complex history marked by public and private disputes, particularly regarding their six children: In Hollywood, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and the twins Knox and Vivienne are some of them.
Also, they are now in a lawsuit over the Château Miraval wine-manufacturing company in France, which they used to co-own and which is cited in their divorce battle. An ex-source claimed that sometimes the talks have not yet concluded; therefore, no deal has been made yet.
In their professional lives, Jolie and Pitt are both coming to the festival to present new work. Jolie stars in Maria, a biographical movie about the famous opera singer Maria Callas, which Pablo Larraín directs. The movie competes in the festival and has a powerful cast: Kodi Smit-McPhee and Pierfrancesco Favino are among them.
Pitt will present Wolfs, an action-thriller directed by John Watts, known for Spider-Man: There is Also No Way Home: Photography and the Southern Plantation Archive. This film also sees Pitt working with his close friend George Clooney, who portrays two men who are going after the same job as ‘fixers’. Wolfs will be presented out of competition and has starred Amy Ryan and Austin Abrams.
