Angelina Jolie opens up about loneliness and new biopic Maria

In an unusually candid interview, actress Angelina Jolie has spoken about the emotional trials she is still enduring eight years on from her very public breakup with Brad Pitt. Speaking from a suite in an exclusive London hotel, 49-year-old Jolie spoke candidly about how her ongoing battle with loneliness has left her desperate for company as she learns to be alone. The revelations come before the highly anticipated biopic Maria, which she has directed.

Despite having six children of her own, Jolie said she was lonely. In relation to her character Maria, she said, “I have my children I love, but as an adult, I’m often alone. I find myself identifying with the solitude and loneliness she experiences.” She explained, “I haven’t quite figured out how to live life in a way where I’m on my own. Many artists may feel that we exist in an open space; we don’t quite settle, which can leave us feeling strange sometimes,” reported The Sun.

Rumors had earlier been rife that Jolie was dating rapper Akala, as the two were seen together a number of times, though neither party confirmed it. Maria is Jolie’s first film project in three years. During the interview, she also revealed the emotional toll of portraying her character, admitting, “When I’m up there crying, that’s my pain, that’s my grief.”

As the new year approaches, Jolie prepares for heightened public scrutiny, especially regarding her continued litigation against ex-husband Pitt over the ownership of the famous Chateau Miraval vineyard. This highly publicized court case, which has received widespread attention, is set to go to trial in 2025, rekindling interest in their tumultuous separation.
