The 2024 edition of the International Indian Film Academy Awards unveiled its nominations for the Popular Choice categories. Action drama ‘Animal’ and family entertainer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani‘ emerged as the top contenders.
‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna, bagged 11 nominations including Best Picture. Close on its heels was Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani…’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt with 10 nods.
In the Best Director segment, veterans like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and Karan Johar will battle it out against Atlee and Siddharth Anand.
For Best Actor, Ranbir, Ranveer, Shah Rukh Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and Sunny Deol have been nominated. Alia, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Kiara Advani, and Taapsee Pannu cut the Best Actress category.
Tripti Dimri and Geeta Aggarwal made their presence felt in the Supporting categories alongside veterans like Anil Kapoor and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Musicians Pritam and Vishal-Shekhar earned two nods each while Arijit Singh found himself nominated twice as well. Shreya Ghoshal and Shilpa Rao also received twin nominations for their soulful renditions.
