Anurag Basu clarifies Triptii Dimri’s exit from “Aashiqui 3”

Rumors that surfaced since Triptii Dimri’s replacement in Anurag Basu’s “Aashiqui 3” hinted at her “over-sexualized” image after “Animal” being the real reason behind it. However, all speculations regarding Triptii’s replacement were denied by Anurag Basu in an exclusive interview with Hindustan Times. He also added that the title of the film will be changed as well, and the new female lead will be finalized within a week.

Basu said image had nothing to do with the reason behind replacing Emraan. “I am the last person on earth to judge an actor based on the roles he plays. ‘Aashiqui’ was not even the story. I don’t know from where these stories emanated.”

Basu says about scheduling conflicts: Triptii has committed to a project by Vishal Bhardwaj which is slated to clash with mine that is supposed to start this month. “The most important factor is dates. Triptii is busy shooting for a film with Vishal Bhardwaj, and my film starts this month as well. She remains a dear friend, and I have great respect for her as an actress. You should ask her what actually happened,” he added.

On the film’s latest status, Basu said, “I don’t know what the film is called at the moment. Shooting starts this month and we have not yet finalized the female lead, but an announcement will be made shortly.”

Triptii Dimri grabbed eyeballs for “Laila Majnu,” “Bulbbul,” and “Qala.” Her recent performance, with Ranbir Kapoor in “Animal,” fetched her appreciation. Yes, she got trolled for the bold scenes in the said film; however, she is one actress who is being talked about. Currently, she is seen in “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” with Rajkummar Rao.
