Charli XCX teams up with A24 for film The Moment

Charli XCX is literally taking Hollywood by storm with her new venture. The pop sensation teamed up with indie film studio A24 for a film, titled The Moment, inspired by an original idea of the pop star herself. It was her first production under her newly established banner Studio365 and gained much attention on social media sites even before it started working.

While some plot details remain tightly under wraps, there’s already palpable excitement that The Moment will be helmed by Scottish photographer and first-time filmmaker Aidan Zamiri. Zamiri co-wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes, which ups the interest in the film another notch.

Music lovers will also be thrilled to know that Charli’s longtime collaborator, AG Cook, will be providing the score, so this project is sure to have his fingerprints all over it.

This movie marks one of several projects that Charli XCX is currently working on in Hollywood, ramping up slowly but surely of late her film work including the upcoming remake of Faces of Death for Daniel Goldhaber, adventure comedy Sacrifice from Romain Gavras and Pete Ohs’ Erupcja.

The Moment is being produced by David Hinojosa under his 2AM banner with Brandon Creed, Mikey Schwartz-Wright and Zach Nutman executive producing. A24, known for releasing bold films, will handle worldwide distribution.

The news comes as Charli returns from a remarkable night at the Brit Awards, where she topped the nominations with five nods, including artist of the year and album of the year.

Clearly, the hype for her is real among her fandom regarding her HollyWood journey. Comments range from excited fans: “Oh she’s taking it! Soon to be Oscar-nominated!” Another noticed her schedule going haywire as she said, “Doesn’t she have, like, 10 million movies she’s gonna be in? Wow. A star! How does she pull it off?” Other avid comments are just full of enthusiasm: “Charli gonna save A24 with this one.” That’s the state of eagerness her projects hold.

For those interested in the details of her career path, Charli has also spoken thoughtfully about her transition to filmmaking: “I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it. So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything,” she said in a recent interview with Variety.

The imminent release of The Moment seems to show that Charli XCX will soon make her mark on the world of music and film alike, marking the start of her creative journey.
