Deepika Padukone discusses postpartum challenges after welcoming baby

Deepika Padukone recently spoke about her woes after the birth of her daughter and how stressed and exhausted she was. The actress and actor Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child last month. Deepika talked candidly about the hiccups in her postpartum experiences, and of course, leading the list was lack of sleep and burnout.

“When sleep-deprived or burnt out, decision-making gets affected,” she said during an interaction with entrepreneur Arianna Huffington at the Live Love Laugh Foundation Lecture series for World Mental Health Day 2024. Deepika said that days she feels particularly stressed are usually related to a lack of sleep and self-care rituals. A video of their interaction has been shared on YouTube by Quint.

Deepika elaborated further on how people sometimes cling to negative emotions, such as criticism. She stressed that it is important to learn from them rather than let them pull one down. “It’s absolutely normal to feel pain and anger. The key is how to deal with that criticism positively and use it for personal growth. Patience and hard work are essential,” she remarked.

Deepika and Ranveer welcomed their baby girl on September 8. The love birds, hitched in November 2018 in Italy, have stepped ahead and plunged into the responsibilities and charms of parenthood.

On the work front, the actors will next be seen in Rohit Shetty’s film Singham Again. Deepika was absent at the recent trailer launch of the film. Ranveer said, “Deepika is busy with the baby, so she couldn’t make it. My duty is at night, so I’ve come.”

Singham Again has an ensemble star cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff. And the movie has definitely created enough anticipation to make this edition really exciting.
