The netizens seemed disappointed with the actress in the five-minute teaser of the action-thriller movie, while an influencer named Sonalika Puri gained prominence surprisingly by emulating Deepika’s perfect dialogue and expressions.
Sonalika shared a video on Instagram that showed her transformation as Deepika’s character, sporting the signature look from the movie. She says in her version, “Tere is duniya me aane ki wajah ek aurat thi, is duniya se jaane ki wajah bhi ek aurat hogi” (A woman was responsible for giving you birth, and your end will also be because of a woman). Further, she claims, “Wo to humare Guru hain.”. He is our Guru. I am not Singham, I am Lady Singham”. The video ends with Sonalika mimicking Deepika’s signature smile, wearing sunglasses.
Sonalika’s mimicry has gone viral and elicited reactions on Reddit, where netizens have loved the performance. A user said, “Why is the last pose, Deepika?????????. Perfect cringy dialogue delivery, too.” Another added, “This is spot on.” Just like with Deepika’s, I cringed watching it.
