Upcoming campus romance film ‘Ishq Vishk Rebound’, featuring Rohit Saraf and Pashmina Roshan, has hit a roadblock with its release plans. Sources state the sequel, which also stars Naina Grewal and Jibraan Khan, is struggling to secure a theatre distribution deal.
While excitement was high when announced during the pandemic, the industry’s current uncertain climate sees no major distributors willing to back a nationwide rollout. Fully complete, the film now risks delays without theatrical support.
Citing mixed performance of recent titles, exhibitors are rightly wary of unproven films. If the situation persists, the debut directorial by ‘Mismatched’ fame Nipun Dharmadhikari may opt for a limited opening, eventually moving to streaming.
Producer Ramesh Taurani downplayed concerns, confirming the June 28th, 2024 date was pushed due to pending songs.
Earlier, Rohit clarified he isn’t replacing Shahid Kapoor in the franchise sequel. While retaining just the title, the new age take resets the story.
