Divya Khosla slams Karan Johar over ‘derogatory language’

Earlier, Divya Khosla indicted the makers of Jigra for fudging box office collections.

New Delhi:
Divya Khossla has launched a war against Jigra makers Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar. It all began with an Instagram post in which Divya accused Alia of fudging the box office numbers of her latest release.

Soon after, Karan uploaded a mysterious post on his Instagram story: “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools.”

The director did not mention names, but the post seemed to directly respond to Divya’s allegations in her latest interview, where she slammed Karan for using “derogatory language” against her.

“Today, when I raise a voice, Mr Karan Johar uses derogatory language to shut me down. Is it right to call a woman a fool for pointing out unethical practices? If this happens to me, what about those new to the industry?

Divya told the Hindustan Times, “No one is a king here, and I won’t be treated like a subject. Many more derogatory words were used in their PR articles, and they called my taking a stand a PR stunt. Sorry, I don’t need one. I’m already well known.”

Divya Khosla also took a jab at Alia Bhatt and said the Highway actress didn’t need to resort to “fake ticket bookings” anymore.

She said, “Alia doesn’t need to resort to such tactics; she’s already well-established. But true heroism is in speaking against the wrong and wrongdoer. Let the audience decide based on merit, not money and power.”.

Divya Khossla, on corporate bookings and misrepresented box office figures: “After Covid, smaller production houses shut shop, and only money bags remain.

An empty theatre was in front of me, but Jigra’s opening figure was inflated. That needs severe correction.”

The two may be rivaled due to the similarity between Divya Khossla’s film Savi and Alia Bhatt’s Jigra.

Divya has claimed that “Jigra is a copy” of her film Savi. She further said that both films share the same storyline, but her project “was in production first.” Jigra hit the theatres on October 11, while Savi was released in May 2024.
