Divya Khossla accuses Alia Bhatt of manipulating jigra box office numbers

Divya Khossla accuses Alia Bhatt of manipulating Jigra’s collection.

Producer Divya Khossla alleged that actor Alia Bhatt had manipulated the box office figures for her recent film Jigra.

In an Instagram story, Khossla shared a photo of an empty theatre showing Jigra and wrote theatres were empty everywhere on the release weekend.

She accused Bhatt of purchasing tickets herself to wrongly inflate the film’s “fake collections”. Khossla’s post comes amid alleged similarities in the plot of Savi, her production starring Harshvardhan Rane and Anil Kapoor about a jailbreak, and Jigra featuring Bhatt in a similar role.

Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra had opened moderately according to estimates earning around Rs 4.25 crore on its first day mainly from the Hindi version.

The Telugu dubbed version saw negligible returns with morning shows in regions like Warangal and Nizamabad reporting zero occupancy.

While box office figures showed a slow take-off for Jigra, Khossla’s claims have stirred talk online regarding mechanisms to artificially enhance collections in the industry.
