Heeramandi drama: Sharmin Segal criticized amid Bhansali’s Netflix success

A Viral clip from Heeramandi’s interview causes a stir.

A clip from an interaction involving the cast of Netflix series ‘Heeramandi‘ has gone viral, sparking reactions among viewers. In the clip, actor Sharmin Segal is heard saying actors are inherently insecure while co-star Aditi Rao Hydari disagrees with the statement.

While Sonakshi Sinha laughs at Sharmin’s comment exempting her from being insecure, Aditi visibly seems annoyed and cuts her off with a firm “No, actors are human beings”. However, Sharmin continues disregarding Aditi’s point that insecurity can have charms too.

Aditi asserts no, and that insecurity is horrible, clearly losing interest in continuing the argument. Netizens shared varied views in comments—some felt Aditi’s exhausting hand gesture represented their reaction, too. Others said Sharmin deserves the backlash she’s facing given her conduct.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Heeramandi’ explores the lives of courtesans in pre-Independent Lahore. Praised for its production but facing criticism, Sharmin has been at the center of both for her performance.

She has had a limited social media presence since the series aired. The viral interaction has added another dimension to the polarized discourse around the show and its cast. While audiences continue debating the merits, this unexpected behind-the-scenes insight has provided fresh ammunition.
