Huma Qureshi’s Diverse Pursuits: From Acting to Authorship and Hospitality.
Huma Qureshi has proven herself to be a multifaceted talent, seamlessly transitioning from her successful acting career to exploring new creative avenues as an author and entrepreneur.
While Huma’s foray into Bollywood as an actress is well-documented, she has now set her sights on expanding her horizons beyond the silver screen.
The actress recently revealed that she has not only published her debut book, “Zeba: An Accidental Superhero,” but has also completed the manuscript for her second literary work, “Dhundh.”
This unexpected turn towards authorship, however, has not been without its challenges. Huma acknowledges that being an actor-turned-author is not a common trajectory in the Indian entertainment industry, and she has faced some preconceived notions and judgments from critics.
The actress firmly believes that individuals should be given the freedom to explore and experiment, even if it means making mistakes along the way. “For me, the bigger problem is not even trying anything different.
The most boring thing for me would be to look the same, sound the same, and land up the same every day to work. Isse acha 9-5 wali naukri kar lete,” she asserts.
Huma’s journey as an author began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she found the time and inspiration to put pen to paper. “The love it got has been overwhelming. I guess it’s not expected from an actor in our industry also to be an author, but I never adhered to such terms.
Her family-owned restaurant, Saleem, has been in operation for over 50 years, defying the industry’s high failure rate. Now, Huma, along with her actor-brother Saqib Saleem, is looking to expand the restaurant’s footprint across India and even internationally, to showcase the wonders of Indian cuisine to the world.
By seamlessly blending her passions for acting, writing, and entrepreneurship, she has proven that there are no limits to what an individual can achieve when they embrace their diverse interests and talents.
