Income tax raids target Pushpa 2 director Sukumar

The officials of the Income Tax Department raided the house and office of the famous filmmaker Sukumar in Hyderabad on Wednesday, January 22. According to a report in Sakshi Post, the raids took place in the early morning and continued for many hours. Apparently, Sukumar was present at the Hyderabad airport when the IT officials accompanied him back to his residence, where the raids were carried out.

As of now, no details related to the purpose and findings of the raid have been disclosed, and no statement by any Income Tax department official has been reported on this raid. The raid occurred when Sukumar enjoyed the success of his recently released movie, Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has crossed Rs 1500 crore.

IT raids were also conducted on the properties of Dil Raju, producer, on Tuesday, 21 January. The officials reportedly suspect tax evasion as they are verifying the documents. It is said that this action will be part of an investigation into some alleged discrepancies and unaccounted income. Officials are checking financial records and transactions to conclude potential tax evasion.

Dil Raju is the full name of Telugu cinema man Velamakucha Venkata Ramana Reddy. Though he has financed some Tamil and Hindi movies, he majorly works under his production company, Sri Venkateswara Creations. Two National Film Awards and the 2013 Nagi Reddy–Chakrapani National Award prove Raju’s success in the film industry. His recent film was Ram Charan starrer Game Changer.
