Janhvi Kapoor sheds light on the economics behind paparazzi photography.
Young Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor, currently gearing up for her forthcoming film ‘Mr and Mrs Mahi’, has revealed interesting insights about the business side of celebrity photograph taken by paparazzi.
In an interview with an entertainment portal, when quizzed about her take on paparazzi culture, Janhvi shared that photographers have a financial incentive attached to clicking stars. She said they are paid based on the popularity of the celebrity, with prices allocated to each star.
Janhvi explained that during promotions, paparazzi are tipped off about her arrival at an airport to take photos. However, outside of work, if they want extra income, they sometimes follow cars to get candid shots that are sold.
She further acknowledged that being tailed is an invasion of privacy but comes as an occupational hazard of stardom. The actor also stated each public figure has a ‘rate card’ deciding their picture prices in the informal market. Those with higher ratings get more attention from the paparazzi.
