Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1 trailer launches in Mumbai

The much-anticipated trailer for Devara: ‘Hindustani,’ the first part of the multi-star movie, was launched by Koratala Siva along with actors Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan on Tuesday evening in Mumbai. The development of the film’s plot is kept a secret, and the trailer only gives suggestive fragments that introduce diverse hypotheses. The movie is scheduled for release on September 27 and also features Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko, and Narain, among others.

As seen in the trailer and from the posters, the Jr NTR plays the dual role of Devara and Varadha. In respect, Devara looks like a real protector of the seas, whereas Varadha seems to have issues in their relations with the father, who thinks his son was invited to live outside the sea. Allegorically, the storyline suggests Varadha may probably be forced to follow in his father’s footsteps.

Saif Ali Khan plays Bhaira, a Kushti expert who hails from the snatchers’ village located near the coastal belt. The MC has scenes of violence, including ship looting and encounters with the Coast Guard, which are portrayed in the trailer. From the sequence of events when Bhaira begins to befriend Devara, one gets the feeling that the friendship may lead to deceit based on greed.

Janhvi Kapoor, who follows in the footsteps of her late mother Sridevi, plays the character of Thangam opposite Varadha in this, her first Telugu movie. At the trailer launch, she further referred to her coming back to the South film industry as a ‘ghar wapsi ‘ and also said she would be sharing the screen with Ram Charan in the future.

The movie sets expectations for great action-packed scenes, and not just that, but the important scenes were both underwater and on the surface. Stating his character in the movie, Junior NTR said that the cast members shot underwater scenes for 38 days, and separately, a total of 60 days were spent on shooting action sequences. Specifically, he stated that he did not like it when they had to make a scene whereby a man rides on a shark, saying that he had to be locked in a large tank for a whole day to capture the shot.

Devara: Part 1 is Jr NTR’s first single outing in six long years since he featured in Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava in 2018. His previous film, RRR, was released in 2022, and it had Ram Charan alongside him. They are looking forward to this first biopic, in which Jr NTR is working as a solo artist for the first time, and then War 2, in which the actor will be making his Bollywood début along with the film with Prashanth Neel again.
