Kannada film actress Harshika Poonacha and her husband, Bhuvann Ponnannaa, were subjected to a distressing attack in Bengaluru, raising concerns about the safety of locals in the city. Poonacha took to social media to share a detailed account of the harrowing incident they faced.
The incident occurred on April 2 when the couple ate dinner at the popular Karama Restaurant in Fraser Town. As they left the valet parking in their car, they were confronted by two men near the driver-side window. The men began arguing, claiming that their vehicle was too big and could potentially harm them if it moved abruptly.
Poonacha’s husband asked the men to leave, but they responded by verbally abusing him and attempting to assault him physically. The situation escalated when around 30 men from the same group gathered, trying to snatch Ponnannaa’s gold chain. Despite their resistance, the chain was ultimately broken.
The attackers specifically targeted the couple for speaking in the local language, making derogatory comments about Kannadigas. Poonacha contacted a police inspector from the area, causing the assailants to disperse quickly. However, when they sought assistance from local police, they were met with apathy.
The couple decided not to file a police complaint due to concerns for their safety. The incident has drawn attention to the need for improved safety measures and prompt action from the authorities to ensure the well-being of residents in Bengaluru.
