Kannada film industry reacts to Darshan’s alleged involvement in murder case

Kannada actors Darshan and Pavithra Gowda are currently in custody as part of an investigation into the alleged murder of Renukaswamy.

Recent statements from prominent figures in the industry, including Upendra, Kichcha Sudeep, and Divya Spandana, have added to the ongoing discussion. Actress Rachita Ram, known for her roles alongside Darshan, expressed disbelief and concern over the allegations.

In a statement posted on X and Instagram in Kannada, she conveyed her shock at the involvement of her mentor in such a serious case.

Rachita highlighted Darshan’s pivotal role in her introduction to the film industry and expressed hope for clarity once the police complete their inquiries. She emphasized that her statement was made as a concerned citizen rather than a fellow actor.

Rachita stated, “I extend my condolences to the family of Renukaswamy and pray for their strength during this difficult time. I trust that justice will prevail in this tragic incident.

Darshan has been a guiding mentor in my career, and it’s hard to believe he could be linked to such an unfortunate event. I have faith in the investigative process and urge the media to report objectively.”

Darshan and Rachita have shared screen space in films like “Bulbul,” “Ambareesha,” “Jaggu Dada,” “Amar,” and “Kranti.”

While initial reactions from industry celebrities were muted following Darshan’s arrest, others have since voiced their opinions. Divya Spandana emphasized the importance of legal recourse in cases of harassment, contrasting it with vigilantism. Ram Gopal Varma commented on the pitfalls of idolizing celebrities, labeling the situation as bizarre.

Sanjjanaa Galrani cautioned against premature judgment, and Kichcha Sudeep defended the reputation of the Kannada film industry amid the controversy. Upendra called for transparency in the investigation process, advocating for public disclosure of findings.

Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and ten others were apprehended in connection with the alleged abduction and killing of Renukaswamy on June 11. The incident reportedly stemmed from derogatory social media messages directed at Pavithra Gowda, culminating in tragic consequences as Renukaswamy’s body was discovered near Sumanahalli.
