The glamour of the Grammys always seems to eclipse the drama brewing backstage, and this year didn’t disappoint. Before Bianca Censori made that staunchly bold step onto the red carpet, rumors were milling of growing tension between her and Kanye West. Insiders say that the couple were at odds over something, which only added intrigue to the sensational event.
Riley Mae Lewis, an actress and social media influencer who was positioned just feet away from the couple during the 67th Grammy Awards on February 2, shared with The Sun some observations that she had. She said there was a palpable discomfort between Kanye and Bianca that all but hinted at a strained dynamic just before Bianca’s dramatic reveal.
“It seemed like they might have been arguing; she didn’t seem fully on board with the scandal he tried to cause on the carpet,” said Riley, who pinpointed an unsettling energy that many standing around them also felt. Indeed, the tension was palpable, and there was more than just pre-show jitters happening between them, it seemed.
According to Riley, Bianca acted uneasy and uninterested, though Kanye seemed unfazed and revelled in it, knowing such an outfit put on by his wife would, in fact, spark the mad media frenzy: “Bianca didn’t look like she wanted to be there, and Kanye was definitely enjoying the attention, knowing there would be publicity.”.
Reflecting on the incident, Riley speculated that this tension could have foreshadowed Kanye’s subsequent erratic behavior online. “Given Kanye’s recent wild rants, it’s clear this may have contributed to his downfall on social media. This was likely all orchestrated,” she said.
Shortly after the Grammys, Kanye launched into a series of disturbing anti-Semitic tirades on X, declaring admiration for Hitler and controversially labeling a swastika t-shirt as his greatest “work of art.” His shocking remarks ignited widespread outrage. Amid these troubling declarations, he controversially claimed to have “dominion” over Bianca while praising her Grammy outfit and bizarrely calling for the release of Sean “Diddy” Combs, currently imprisoned on sex trafficking charges.
He also caught a lot of flak recently when he wasted millions on the bizarre Super Bowl advertisement for Yeezy just to erase the whole site so he’s now only selling this one swastika shirt.
The backlash was fierce and swift; furious fans were canceling orders for Yeezy and were boycotting his upcoming album. Tech mogul Daniel Starr also offered $2 million for a brief boxing match with Kanye, labeling him “a disgrace to humanity.” David Schwimmer from Friends also did not hesitate, calling the comments “ignorant bile” and urging action from X owner Elon Musk.
