Karan Deol joins father Sunny in Aamir Khan’s ‘Lahore 1947’
Aamir Khan Productions has roped in Karan Deol to play a pivotal role in their upcoming historical drama Lahore 1947. Khan said Deol, the son of actor-politician Sunny Deol, auditioned well for the critical character of Javed.
Deol has worked hard in workshops and rehearsals under Adishakti founder AD Guru and director Rajkumar Santoshi, Khan added.
Set in pre-partition India, Lahore 1947 has an ensemble cast featuring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in leading roles. Veteran actors Shabana Azmi, Abhimanyu Singh, and Ali Fazal are also stars.
Singh will play the antagonist opposite Deol. Santoshi has reunited with several collaborators for the project. Acclaimed musicians AR Rahman and lyricist Javed Akhtar have also joined the cast.
Santoshi expressed excitement about working with Aamir Khan again after Andaz Apna Apna and called the reunion with Deol and assembling talents a dream team.
Shooting for the period film, co-produced by Aamir Khan Productions, will commence soon. Santoshi is known for films like Ghayal, Damini, and Ghatak with Deol in the past.
