When Karisma Kapoor mispronounced her name while promoting a film with “Murder Mubarak” as its title, many of her fans were shocked. The actress shared that her real name, which should be read as ‘Karizzma’, not ‘Karishma’, was pronounced as such.
For a long time now, she gets her name mispronounced meaninglessly, but she is ok with it and doesn’t bother correcting it anymore. Recently, Karisma’s sister Kareena Kapoor weighed in on the matter and suggested a simple solution: singing ‘Lolo’ to her as she does her homework. In this context, Lolo is a little name for her sister, referring to her as Lola.
In “A BBC Asian Network interview, Kareena shared her easygoing on the matter by saying that it just goes with a slow flow and she doesn’t mind whether she is referred to as a Karisma or not. She explained that the misinterpretation of Karisma’s name might be why people were not quite familiar if the difference between ‘Karisma’ and ‘Karishma’. Kareena focused on her passport having the name ‘Karisma’ printed instead of ‘Karisma-H’ as the name appeared in her movie script.
Kareena advised calling her ‘Lolo’ instead of a whole bunch of names to make it less in line with the new name of the law and to simplify things.
She made the point that Karisma is a person who feels her name should not be important by writing it all over but more on the feelings and love that accompany it. Although she ended up with her official name, ‘Karisma,’ Kareena’s humble way of addressing herself by calling her Lolo could be the winner!
