Khloé Kardashian recently shared her disturbing experience with a past therapist, alleging that the information she had given during the sessions was leaked to the tabloids. Such a breach of confidentiality greatly affected the reality TV star and completely turned her off from therapy altogether.
In an interview with Bustle, Khloé describes the moment she learned a personal matter she had confided in her therapist had become the subject of a tabloid. “I remember I was going to therapy, and the next thing I knew, something private I told my therapist was on a tabloid. I knew that my therapist disclosed this information because there’s no way this could have gotten out otherwise,” she shared.
The incident occurred during her divorce from Lamar Odom, which was finalized in 2013 amid infidelity and addiction issues. While Khloé did not specify the details of what was leaked, she emphasized the impact it had on her.
Following this, Khloé turned to an outlet that she could handle: fitness. “I stopped going to therapy and started going to the gym. I needed a release, but I did not trust anybody else anymore. The gym became the place where I felt the safest,” she explained.
Khloé explained that the experience was “very jarring and sort of unbelievable” and stopped her from going to therapy for years. It wasn’t until her sister Kim Kardashian encouraged her to do so that she gave it another try. Now, 40, Khloé says she’s grateful for her new therapist, whom she describes as “really lovely,” and for the opportunity to work on her personal issues. Feeling fitter than ever, Khloé is now considering new avenues in her career and attributes this, in part, to her therapy.
