Kabir Singh cast commemorates film’s 5 year anniversary.
As Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly debated film Kabir Singh clocks 5 years, its lead stars have commemorated the milestone on social media. Producer Murad Khetani first shared the poster with anniversary message on Instagram.
Kiara Advani, who played the female lead Preeti Sikka, reposted it with a red heart emoji. She had featured opposite Shahid Kapoor as his character’s love interest in the blockbuster romantic drama.
Notably a Hindi remake of Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey starrer Telugu film Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh sparked discussion for its controversial subject. Yet it emerged a box office smash hit.
In a recent interview, Kapoor stated he aimed to portray the complex titular role truthfully without attempting to influence viewers’ opinions. His performance as a self-destructive surgeon won him immense praise.
Besides the lead pair, the Vanga directorial also starred Adil Hussain, Arjan Bajwa and Soham Majumdar among others in supporting roles. It chronicles Kapoor’s descent into alcoholism after a tumultuous breakup.
While divisive, the film managed to start a dialogue on its candid representation of emotional turmoil. Five years on, the cast looks back on its legacy of spurring insightful debate.
