Kusha Kapil, who is recognized as a social media content creator turned show host and now an actress, has posted a somewhat mysterious message on her Instagram Stories responding to the uproar she recently faced due to her appearance in the ‘Pretty Good Roast show with Samay Raina.
Kusha was more carefree in her post in which she wrote When someone’s trying to disempower you, it’s their garbage, It’s not yours to store, Let it slide off you ‘Move’, Curtis Mayfield As if she was implying that she was not going to be touched by the negativity that had been directed at her.
The major conflict arose when Samay Raina roasted Kusha, saying several things about her marriage and divorce and other things that were considered sensitive were censored. Although Kusha was jovial about the roast, she moved to explain that she was not informed of the kind of jokes that would be made and that she was not okay with the jokes getting out there.
Later, in a long comment on her YouTube community, Kusha noted that the roaster was sincere and that nobody was compensated for it. She claimed the jokes were not rehearsed, and as much as she had to stand the live audience jokes, she was uncomfortable having the jokes televised to millions of viewers, as some of the jokes were heinously cruel and had dehumanized her.
Kusha described the episode as a “big learning” and said she would not do it again, being a part of similar roasts. It was the first episode that was shot for the ‘Pretty Good Roast series, and about this episode, Kusha mentioned that he and everyone else had the learnings after the shooting.
The message that Kusha posted is quite ambiguous; however, she seems to imply that she does not allow the negativity to bring her down and that she is moving on, as people should not waste their time on negativity.
