Liam Payne, a former member of the British boy band One Direction, died after falling from the third floor of a Buenos Aires hotel. He was 31. News of his passing sent shock waves throughout the music world and his fans worldwide.
After the news broke, Payne’s ex, Maya Henry’s rep, released a statement on her behalf, saying she’s “obviously in shock.” As you might know, the two had just recently split, and Maya accused the singer of some heavy stuff, including abuse. In fact, just last week, it’s been reported that Maya sent him a cease-and-desist letter due to “new and concerning information.”
In a TikTok video she posted earlier this month, Maya detailed what she described as Payne’s obsessive behavior after they split. She says he constantly contacted her family and created new iCloud accounts to contact her.
“Ever since we broke up, he messages me nonstop from different phone numbers, so I never know where it’s gonna come from,” she said. Maya explained further that he would create new iCloud accounts to send her messages, saying, “Every time I see one pop up on my phone, I’m like, ‘Here we f—ing go again.'”
Maya also accused Payne of financial exploitation of the One Direction fans, citing several sponsored snaps that he has posted on Snapchat. She then followed up her allegations in the comment section of a TikTok video by accusing him of speaking badly about his bandmates behind their backs while he supports them publicly.
Maya and Liam started dating in 2018 after his split from Cheryl Cole. The two engaged in 2020, but they broke up later in 2022 after cheating allegations. At his death, Liam was said to be dating US model and content creator Kate Cassidy.
