Madalsa Sharma, who played Kavya in Anupamaa, finally spoke about her co-star Rupali Ganguly after she quit the show after four years. In an open talk with Siddharth Kannan, Madalsa spoke about backstage gossip. She said there were moments when she felt Rupali had spoken about her behind her back.
Expressing her feelings, Madalsa revealed that such instances hurt, particularly as they were only working together. “Sometimes, it feels like someone shows one face in front of you but acts differently behind your back. A few times, I felt like things were said about me in a less-than-flattering manner, and when I learned of it, it hurt. I was like, ‘Why?’ I hold no animosity; we’re just actors working together,” she explained.
Madalsa identified some incidents that hurt her seriously and made her emphasize that she had not done anything to them for behaving in that manner. “There were a couple of occasions where I felt genuinely upset. I haven’t done anything to you for you to act this way.
If I had made a mistake, I could understand the reaction, but it was confusing when I hadn’t done anything. I only wish the approach were openhearted and that any problem, if at all it is, be told right in my face rather than behind my back.
Madalsa reasons these were minor incidents misconstrued in a big production setup. “We could look into each other’s eyes and tell something was amiss. We would sit down, talk it out, and then move on-often hugging it out. It was organic and respectful, she says.
When she exited the show, Rupali sent a reaching-out message, saying all the best and asking her to keep in touch. Speaking about her relationship with Madalsa, she said she wouldn’t miss Rupali, meaning everything was finally over.
