Mahira Khan addresses trolls at Aalami Urdu conference 2024

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, famous for her work opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the 2017 movie Raees, has time and again fired back at her trolls that continuously accuse her of using the Bollywood star’s name. Many a time, despite praising Shah Rukh Khan, the diva falls prey to receiving hate that she justifies her reputation by talking about him. During Aalami Urdu Conference 2024, Karachi, though, Mahira showed some wit to shut the haters.

When asked about working with Shah Rukh, Mahira said that although it has been a very generic interview question, she never tires of talking about the King of Bollywood. “Agar koi poochy toh main batati hoon. Phir log kehtey hain ke khud hi khud pe baat kar rahi hai. I never bring them up myself.” Reacting to social media trolls who say she seeks publicity through Shah Rukh Khan’s name, she quipped, “If you don’t want to hear about him, then don’t ask me.”

Of course, the most prominent one has to be Raees with Shah Rukh, as their on-screen chemistry has been talked about everywhere. She played the role of his love interest so nicely and strongly that she garnered great appreciation from critics. The song “Zalima,” by Arijit Singh and Harshdeep Kaur, did justice to the sizzling chemistry between the two in the vibrant setting of Gujarat with its groovy beats and emotional lyrics.

During a recent interaction with casting director Mukesh Chhabra on his YouTube channel, Raees director Rahul Dholakia claimed that for the role of Mahira, actresses like Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, and Anushka Sharma were approached. However, due to various reasons, Mahira landed the role as she was in Mumbai during the casting process.
