Mrunal Thakur opens up about challenges with intimate scenes and parental influence in film choices

Renowned Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur, known for her captivating performances in both Hindi and South Indian cinema, recently shed light on a challenging career journey. In a candid interview, she revealed her struggles with turning down film roles that involved intimate scenes, a decision partly influenced by her parents.

Speaking to iDiva, Mrunal Thakur expressed her initial discomfort with romantic scenes and her dilemmas in aligning her choices as an actor. The actress bravely shared her experiences of confronting her parents about their strict rules. Reflecting on those moments, she expressed, “I would simply get scared and decline a film, but how long could I continue doing that?” Realizing the limitations, she had a serious conversation with her parents, conveying her inability to miss out on potential roles due to circumstances beyond her control.

Mrunal Thakur recounted instances where she had to pass on film opportunities because they involved kissing scenes. “As much as I desired to be a part of those films, I had to let them go because of the presence of intimate scenes. As an actor, one needs to be prepared because sometimes such scenes are the demand of the story. While it is possible to express discomfort and discuss alternatives, I found myself missing out on projects due to this,” she shared.

Regarding her recent work, Mrunal Thakur was last seen in ‘The Family Star’ alongside Vijay Deverakonda. Unfortunately, the film is not available on the OTT platform Prime Video. Additionally, she has the highly anticipated ‘Pooja Meri Jaan,’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in her pipeline.

Mrunal Thakur’s candid revelations shed light on the complexities actors face when it comes to intimate scenes and the influence of parental guidance on their career choices. Her openness adds a layer of understanding to the challenges artists face in navigating their artistic expression while respecting personal boundaries.
