The makers of the much-awaited sci-fi film ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ recently unveiled a new poster and revised release date of June 27th. While fans admired the first glimpse of Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, some drew parallels between the actress’ look and Zendaya.
In the poster, Deepika Padukone is seen with short, untied hair in a brown ensemble against a desert backdrop. On social media, several users pointed out similarities to Zendaya’s role as Chani in ‘Dune.’ Comments ranged from describing Deepika’s character as a “poor man’s Zendaya” to questioning if the poster featured the Hollywood star instead.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the project follows a journey spanning 6000 years from the Mahabharat era to the titular year 2898 AD. At a recent event, the filmmaker elaborated on blending Indian culture with imagined futuristic worlds without replicating Blade Runner.
