Nicole Kidman Honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hollywood veteran Nicole Kidman was recognized with the American Film Institute’s Life Achievement Award for her contributions over four decades. In an emotional acceptance speech, the 56-year-old Australian star reminisced about collaborations.
Without naming names, Kidman’s speech touched upon important co-actors from her past—”some you laugh with, some you fall in love with, some you marry.” This was seen as an indirect reference to ex-husband Tom Cruise, whom she met on Days of Thunder sets and was married to for 11 years.
In a 2018 interview, Kidman opened up about caring deeply for Cruise. “He was just Tom, but he was huge for others. He was lovely to me, and I still love him,” she said.
Present at the event, current husband Keith Urban praised Kidman for showing “love in action” by supporting him during rehab after their 2006 marriage. Visibly moved, she credited her husband and daughters for being her pillars.
Country star Urban recalled confronting his vices just months into their marriage but said Kidman “chose love,” cementing their nearly two-decades-long relationship.
The night also marked the acting legend’s teenage daughters’ red carpet debut alongside their mother, a momentous family affair for the multifaceted artist.
Kidman continues carving new paths in her storied career with projects like A Family Affair and Holland, Michigan, in the pipeline.
