Nikki Glaser shines as gost of Golden Globes 2025

Hosting the star-studded Golden Globes 2025, stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser blew minds with her opening monologue. Not afraid to tackle some of the biggest controversies to hit Hollywood in the past year, Nikki took light jabs at big names like Timothée Chalamet, Selena Gomez, and Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Kicking the night off with praise for star Zendaya on her standout role in the romance sports drama Challengers, she said, “That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card. I know. I’m upset, too. The after-party isn’t going to be as good.”

Making her first appearance as host of the Golden Globes, Nikki joked about the lack of outrageous moments: “I know the Stanley Tucci freak-off does not have the same ring to it. No baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.”

Nikki didn’t shy away from poking fun at Ben Affleck, who is in the midst of a divorce from Jennifer Lopez. In a nod to the films nominated for the awards, she remarked, “Wicked, Queer, Nightbitch. these are not just words Ben Affleck yells when he orgasms.”

Before the star-studded crowd, she said, “I’m not going to roast you tonight. You’re all so famous, so talented, so powerful. I mean, you could really do anything, except tell the country who to vote for.” She playfully referred to the event as “Ozempic’s biggest night.”

Nikki’s monologue also singled out Timothée Chalamet’s uniquely shaped moustache for a shout out. “Timothée Chalamet, you have the most gorgeous eyelashes — on your upper lip. That is such a good look. You were so good in A Complete Unknown as Bob Dylan. In fact, I read that your singing voice was so accurate that even Bob Dylan admitted it was absolutely horrible. You nailed it,” she joked.

Her sharp wit was praised all over social media as fans simply loved the humour. Comments like this one on X read: “Nikki Glaser devoured and left no crumbs with that opening monologue.” Another one furthered: “Her monologue was the funniest since Ricky Gervais – pointed and smart while still feeling light-hearted. Well done!”

She slayed all night in nine various outfit changes, sporting a myriad of bedazzling silver, black, pink, red, and gold outfits, plus her red-carpet look. Nikki was up against Best Stand-Up Comedian on Television but lost to Ali Wong. “I may not have won tonight, but on the bright side, I just made 11,000 dollars betting on Ali Wong on a European gambling site,” Nikki joked.
