Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ leads at Academy Awards.
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony honoring cinematic excellence saw top nods for Christopher Nolan’s biopic ‘Oppenheimer.’ Starring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer, the film bagged prizes across 13 nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for Nolan.
Murphy took home the Best Actor trophy for his intense portrayal. Robert Downey Jr. won Best Supporting Actor recognition for his role in the period drama.
The Best Actress category witnessed a tight race between Emma Stone (‘Poor Things’) and Lily Gladstone (‘Killers of the Flower Moon’), which the latter eventually won for her acclaimed performance.
Another notable winner was Greta Gerwig, who was honored as Best Director for her movie ‘Barbie.’ Martin Scorsese and Yorgos Lanthimos’ films ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and ‘Poor Things’ also scooped awards.
This year’s ceremony saw past Oscar winners, including Zendaya, Al Pacino, and Jennifer Lawrence, announce categories—a trend that resumed after 2009. Matthew McConaughey, Lupita Nyong’o, and Nicolas Cage were among the numerous presenters at the Dolby Theatre event hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for a fourth time. The gala spotlighted extraordinary talent and craft recognized globally.
