The young Pakistani TikTok influencer girl, Imsha Rehman, has deleted her social media accounts after a leaked private video went viral. Since then, people on social media have highly criticized the influencer, who blamed her for deliberately leaking the video to stay in the limelight. However, it seems the case of Rehman was similar to the data breach of recently victimized influencer Minahil Malik, whose leaked private video came out and had to face allegations like Rehman.
The backlash has been overwhelming, so I am taking a break from social media,” Rehman said in a resignation letter before quitting the social media site. Screenshots from her private video have gone viral and are even being used for making memes, raising the controversy several notches. A screenshot reportedly from Rehman’s TikTok account quotes, “Jab tak video viral hai maine ne ID off kar di hai” (Until the video is viral, I have deactivated my account).
Her content is energetic and interactive not only on TikTok but also on other social media platforms. Many people watch Imsha Rehman, born in Lahore on October 7, 2002, because of her upbeat personality and relatable posts.
It is a bit similar to the case of Minahil Malik, which also found itself amid controversy after an intimate video with her boyfriend went viral in October. Malik had come out to say the video was “fake” and filed a complaint with the FIA regarding the incident.
Similarly, Rehman faced severe trolling, and many accused her of orchestrating the leak for publicity. Pakistani actress Mishi Khan has lashed out at influencers publicly for “stooping to the lowest level” for fame, although many onlookers took her tweet as a reference to Malik’s case.
