Palak Sindhwani quits TV show amid health issues & contract dispute

Palak Sindhwani breaks silence on exit from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah.

Actor Palak Sindhwani, known for playing the role of Sonu in the popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has opened up about her decision to quit the long-running show.

In an interview with an entertainment portal, Sindhwani revealed she had been considering an exit for a year due to health issues and tiredness from shooting continuously for several days.

The actor stated she has some medical conditions and her doctor advised reducing stress with a lighter work schedule allowing proper rest. However, the show’s unpredictable shooting took a toll.

Sindhwani recalled informing the producers in December 2021 about her desire to move on but was asked to stay due to another actor’s departure. She alleged the makers wanted her commitment until May 2025 and started mistreating her after she refused.

The actor also claimed being unpaid over Rs. 21 lakhs but was still expected to work by the production team.

With support from her family, Sindhwani stressed on needing a career break after giving five years to the show and dealing with the current experience.

She expressed losing interest in television and wanting to focus on her well-being going forward. The production house has yet to comment on the allegations.
