Priyanka Chopra finally and eminently returned to India last week for the first time in quite a while. The star of Quantico was in Mumbai to announce her new brand, Max Factor. Speaking to Forbes India, she spoke about the differences between working in Bollywood and Hollywood.
Speaking about the difference in experiences in both, Priyanka says, “Every country is different; every country has its own culture and way of functioning. One thing that is so different is the quantity of paperwork in Hollywood. You get 100 emails before the next day.
The timings are very tight, depending on when the shoot wraps up the previous night. There is little room for spontaneity unless you work with a very flexible filmmaker. All in all, very organized and structured.”
She elaborated more on the work ethic, saying, “We have a lot more ‘jugaad’ to get things done. There’s a romantic notion of ‘Arey ho jayega, kar lenge’ reflecting a different filmmaking approach. This organic creativity is the hallmark of our industry.” Despite such differences, she held filmmaking worldwide and spoke the same language.
A self-confessed Bollywood girl, Priyanka couldn’t help but wax nostalgic about the slow-motion shots of dancing and lip-syncing, which are the signature style of Indian movies. And just a few months ago this year, she was seen vigorously dancing to Bollywood numbers at the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
Priyanka last appeared in the American romantic comedy Love Again and will next be seen in The Heads of State opposite Idris Elba and John Cena. In the upcoming film The Bluff, she will reportedly play a woman pirate from the Caribbean in the 19th century.
