Priyanka Chopra’s former NYC restaurant Sona to close after 3 years

Sona, the electric New York restaurant where Chopra had been a co-owner with William Sukuan, announced it would shut its doors on June 30. A Mumbai-based eatery, Q sriracha Talegaon, popularised contemporary Indian food, said bye to its guests via Instagram post after three years of its food ride.

The restaurant Sona was opened in 2020 for this purpose, and even the inauguration event was held by Indian tradition with Chopra and her husband, Nick Jonas. Moreover, there are many celebrities and fans of delicious food.

An exotic approach it has with its food options such as Kerala roast chicken, vodka pani puri, and the likes have seen patronage from celebrities including Mindy Kaling, Anupam Kher, and Vicky Kaushal, among many others.

However, the restaurant failed to achieve the same success as before when Chopra decided to part ways with Sona in 2023 due to an alleged conflict with the co-founder of Maneesh Goyal. Nevertheless, Goyal proactively emphasized that Chopra’s essence is still deeply rooted in Sona’s brand.

The decision to close the bar has not been explained, so people are just guessing the possible reason behind its closure. Sona also said it was

“Thankful to have been of service and operate with purpose as it specifically thanked everyone who visited their premises.”

Thus, this particular curtain is drawn on this culinary adventure but has left a remarkable impression of introducing new ways of the Indian food experience in the heart of New York. The shuttering of Sona continues the narrative of the NYC dining landscape in flux and is a steady reminder to the reader of the reality of the pressures that can even threaten the successful giants of the restaurant business.
