CHENNAI: Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana franchise has become synonymous with the horror-comedy genre, and the upcoming fourth installment in the series is poised to continue that trend.
According to recent reports, the filmmaker has finalized the lead cast, with Pooja Hegde and Nora Fatehi set to star in the eagerly anticipated Kanchana 4.
While the director has yet to reveal official details, Hindustan Times has reported that the casting for Kanchana 4 has been completed, with the two Bollywood beauties joining the project.
A source close to the production revealed, “Raghava Lawrence is going to direct Kanchana 4 next. There are two heroines in this film, Pooja Hegde and Nora Fatehi will star in it. The story writing for the film has been completed. Shooting is set to begin for it as soon as possible.”
The Kanchana franchise has built a dedicated fanbase over the years, and the anticipation for the fourth installment has been steadily growing.
Last year, there were rumors that Mrunal Thakur would be part of the horror-comedy, but Raghava Lawrence took to social media to clarify that the official cast announcement would be made through his production banner, Raghavendra Production.
Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana series has played a significant role in popularizing the horror-comedy genre in Indian cinema. The first film in the franchise, titled Muni, was released in 2007, followed by Muni 2: Kanchana in 2011.
The director then went on to helm the third and fourth installments in 2015 and 2019, respectively, cementing the series’ status as a fan-favorite.
While the Kanchana franchise remains a cornerstone of Raghava Lawrence’s career, the versatile filmmaker has also diversified his repertoire. He was recently seen in the action-thriller Jigarthanda Double X and has several other projects in the pipeline, including Benz, Adhigaram, Kaala Bhairava, and Bullet.
