Actress Ranjini Haridas alleges receiving inappropriate photos from the actor.
Television presenter and actress Ranjini Haridas has revealed in a media interaction that she received an undesirable photo from a celebrated actor.
Haridas stated the actor sent her an unsolicited topless photo and asked for one in return. She said she immediately declined, conveying it was the “wrong window”.
While declining to name the actor given she no longer possesses the evidence, the actress underscored sexual exploitation of women is rampant, especially in modeling. She recollected facing a similar distressing experience during an ad shoot in Kannur, Kerala as well.
Haridas’ revelation comes at a time when the Malayalam film industry is navigating turbulent waters in the aftermath of the Hema Committee Report.
The report highlighted prevalent issues like sexual harassment, gender bias, lack of facilities, and unequal pay plaguing women. This triggered nationwide outrage.
Numerous allegations of sexual assault have shaken the industry which earlier witnessed an eerie silence from most celebrities.
Manju Warrier, along with Tovino Thomas, recently spoke at an event, acknowledging the challenges. She expressed hope the clouds will clear for better days ahead while appealing for patience.
The industry faces a crisis of confidence at the moment which its leading lights strive to remedy through open conversations.
