Rohit Shetty addresses fallout with Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty produced a blockbuster with Chennai Express but did not get their act together to produce something of similar calibre again in their Dilwale film. Ever since then, news of the fallout between the filmmaker and actor began to be hinted at. Nevertheless, those reports have been cleared by Rohit Shetty himself.

In a frank conversation with Komal Nahta on the Game Changers podcast, Rohit brushed aside the rumours of any rift with SRK. “Nahi aisa kuch nahi,” he stated, making it clear that there was no animosity between them. He explained further, “Ek respect hai humare beech me aur Dilwale ke baad ye hua ki immediately phir humne humare khud ki production house kholi. Humne decide kiya ki hum khud ki filmein banayenge. Agar loss bhi ho to humara ho, jabki loss nahi hua tha.”

Rohit explained that even though there was lacklustre reception at home, Dilwale was a big hit abroad. To put things into perspective, Dilwale was produced by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan under their production house, Red Chillies Entertainment.

Rohit also spoke about the close friendships he’s formed in the industry. He spoke about how he has a close relationship with Ajay Devgn, whom he regards as an elder brother, and has become close to actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Appreciating Deepika’s commitment, Rohit spoke about how she completed the last schedule of Singham Again when she was four months pregnant. “Relationships like these are not easily created,” he added.

While that, Shah Rukh Khan will face the screens along with daughter Suhana Khan for the very first time in his forthcoming King. Co-written and to be directed by Siddharth Anand, also starring Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma are in a starring role in this one. Rohit Shetty is busy, at the same time, preparing another instalment from his cop franchise that has a huge star power list of cast ensemble.
