In a shocking incident, an intruder attacked Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence in the wee hours of Thursday at around 2:30 AM. Immediately after the scuffle, his son Ibrahim Ali Khan rushed him to Lilavati Hospital.
Reports said 23-year-old Ibrahim was forced to take an autorickshaw to the hospital as no driver was available to drive him there that early in the morning. Saif is recuperating at Lilavati Hospital where he underwent a surgery for multiple stab wounds inflicted by the attackers. Medical sources at the hospital said he may be discharged within a few days.
The situation turned alarming when a house help alerted the family about an intruder in the children’s room. Entering the room, Saif confronted the attacker and was stabbed six times, leaving him seriously injured. Identity of the intruder is verified, and he ran from the crime spot immediately after attacking Saif.
Incidentally, Kareena Kapoor, Saif’s wife, along with the couple’s two sons, Taimur and Jeh, was also present in the house. Preliminary police investigations revealed that the miscreant accessed the place using the fire escape, thereby ruling out the intent of burglary.
In a statement issued by Saif Ali Khan’s team early Thursday, they called for patience from the media and fans over the situation. “There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in the hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation,” the statement read.
A case has been registered by the house help against the intruder under charges of trespassing and attempted murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
