Saif Ali Khan’s staff identifies alleged stabber

Two members of Saif Ali Khan’s household have identified the individual arrested for the alleged stabbing of the Bollywood actor as the attacker. The Mumbai Police had earlier confirmed the suspect’s identity through forensic tests.

Mumbai Police arrested Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, alias Vijay Das, for allegedly stabbing Khan when he tried to burglarize the actor’s residence in Bandra. Fakir is still in judicial custody.

In a major breakthrough, two employees of Khan’s residence identified Fakir during an identification parade that was conducted inside Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai. Eliyamma Phillip, the nanny of Khan’s toddler Jeh, and househelp Junu identified Fakir as the assailant who targeted the actor on January 16, police sources said.

Phillip, a resident of Ghansor town in the district, was also attacked by the intruder that night, making him the prime witness. The identification parade was done in the presence of a tehsildar and five panchas, PTI reported.

This comes after Mumbai Police, days earlier, had identified the attacker through the facial recognition system. “Investigating officers matched the suspect with images captured on CCTV from Khan’s residence. One footage was doing rounds on social media amidst speculations about the identity of the man seen in the visuals and his link with the one arrested by police.
