Samyuktha opens up about the transition between Malayalam and Telugu cinema.
Versatile actor Samyuktha Hegde, active in Malayalam and Telugu industries, discusses the differences in working in both. While the acting process remains the same with questioning details, she notes Telugu films prefer more cuts over long master shots relished in Malayalam productions.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Samyuktha admits that maintaining nuances through short sequences wasn’t easy initially. She had gotten used to seamless single shots down South, and the frequent retakes in Telugu to get multiple camera angles disrupted her flow.
Appearance is another key variance, according to Samyuktha. While Malayalam allows a natural look throughout the day, she remarks that Telugu movies demand extensive care in styling, even during shots, to look presentable each time.
Well-wishers rushing to fix attire mid-scene distracted her mood, something uncommon in her home industry. The reliance on glamourous costumes and makeup over spontaneity was difficult to adjust initially.
Established well in both industries with projects like ‘Bheemla Nayak’ and ‘Sir,’ Samyuktha is set for Nikhil’s ‘Suyambhu’ in Telugu after Mollywood’s anticipated ‘Ram’ co-starring Mohanlal. The actor hopes to balance nuanced acting through varied filmmaking techniques in multiple industries.
