Sara Ali Khan has been a walking talking point since she entered the scene in 2018 with Kedarnath. While many appreciate her relatable quirky style and quick-witted Shayari, others suspect her to be a PR-powered package-all the more so because of her Hollywood-style legacy as the daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh. In a recent interview with Harpers’ Bazaar, Sara addresses these perceptions, claiming her persona is anything but contrived.
When asked whether her relatability was conscious, Sara repeated, “I don’t think I’ve spent any energy, to the dismay of some, curating an image of myself. That’s something I would do for the camera when playing characters. In real life, I am just me, whether it’s that gym person in five pairs of shorts and crop tops or that traveling-in-athleisure-but-can-do-jeans-and-a-t-shirt person.
Sara revealed how different she and her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan had been brought up from most speculations. She described her childhood as a “normal life” with their mom: “We went to the mall to play video games or eat at the food court. That’s the life I was used to growing up. Today, I appreciate my job, but when I’m not working at the gym, a café, or traveling, I try not to take my persona too seriously and do what feels right.
Sara was raised by her mother and brother Ibrahim after her parents divorced when she was young. Saif has remarried and has two children, Taimur and Jeh, with Kareena Kapoor.
Most recently, Sara starred as Bambi in the Netflix film Murder Mubarak and Usha Mehta in the Prime Video series Ae Watan Mere Watan. She is currently in production on Metro, Dino, Sky Force, and Eagle.
