Sharmin Segal recalls a hilarious childhood encounter with Salman Khan.
Actress Sharmin Segal, who has earned acclaim for her performance in Heeramandi, recently shared fond memories of meeting Bollywood superstar Salman Khan during her childhood on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
While interacting with a publication, the niece of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali recounted how the Dabangg star jokingly proposed to her as a toddler. She said Khan asked the 2-3-year-old if she would marry him, to which the little Sharmin quipped ‘no’.
The anecdote highlighted the fun-loving nature between the then-youngster and veteran actor decades ago.
Meanwhile, despite being Bhansali’s relative, Sharmin asserted she did not enjoy favouritism while acting in Heeramandi. She looked up to the auteur solely as a talented director deserving utmost respect.
Sharmin said witnessing his dedication magnified her regard for Bhansali, from assisting him to performing in his vision. Both nieces address him respectfully as ‘Sanjay Sir’ in public view, not taking his familial bond for granted.
Featuring an ensemble cast comprising Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, and others, the prestigious project has amplified Sharmin’s prospects after receiving a positive response worldwide on Netflix. The budding star seems focused on letting her talent do the talking.
