Shraddha Kapoor has finally broken her silence over the debate on who should get the bigger credit for Stree 2’s monstrous success. The actress recently talked about the film’s success during an interview, in which she made it a point to state that the film’s success was a collaborative effort by the entire cast and crew.
Shraddha also announced another piece of good news during the SCREEN Live session: The third part of Stree 3 is already in the works, and Rajkummar Rao will be back to play his much-loved character.
Talking about the franchise’s success, Shraddha said, “The amount of love and appreciation that the first part received was huge. It all started there. I must say that the director, writer, and producer did a great job with the sequel. It is very important not to make a sequel, just for the heck’s sake.
There should be a nice story behind it, and people should be interested in watching it as much as they appreciate it. They did not deviate from what a sequel is supposed to be and did a very good job building up the storyline of Stree 2. All entertainment elements are there, great actors, interesting dialogues; ultimately, the audiences are the final decision-makers, and we are glad that we can deliver what they want.”
When asked about the sequels to come, Shraddha expressed her excitement about director Amar Kaushik’s plans for Stree 3: “When Amar sir shared the story with me, I was so excited because I know that it’s going to be something grand. I really look forward to finding out more.”
The recent box office success of Stree 2 has also spawned a credit war between its leads. Reports state that publicists for Shraddha and Rajkummar have been fighting to get public acknowledgment for their respective clients’ contributions.
Where the first film ended, Stree 2 begins by setting up a new villain: Sarkata, a headless bad guy who kidnaps independent women. Releasing on August 15, 2024, against several other big Hindi films, Stree 2 is part of the ambitious horror-comedy universe from producer Dinesh Vijan, including films such as Bhediya and Munjya. The film has already collected over ₹700 crores in India.
