Shreya Jain launches debut EP ‘Bawari’ blending classical and contemporary

Shreya Jain is planning to unleash herself on music lovers with her first EP, ‘Bawari’, a blend of Indian classical and Western beats. As expected from this type of release, this track transports the listener to an Egyptian templating modern beatboxing.

With her core foundation in Hindustani classical music since childhood, trained under her father and guru, Surmani Shyam Jain, Shreya seeks to popularise World Music, especially Indian music. ‘Bawari’ is a strike seeking a broader audience, which, in a way, is an intended statement from her to bridge a divide between the current and the past world, to explain the beauty of of Indian music to the world.

The EP features guest appearances from lyricist Juno (Avinash Chauhan) and Shayra Apoorva and is partly produced by Bluk, Dropped Out, and Nakul Chugh. Saahel, Sanah Moidutty, The Rish, and the rapper Gravity also make special appearances, adding their individual flavors to this colorful musical project.

Track Highlights:

Kaahe (Ft. BLUK, JUNO): It is about young love, attraction, and the thoughts and feelings that come with it. This track is about a young lady overwhelmed with her feelings towards a certain someone.
Birha (Ft. Nakul Chugh, Saahel, Shayra): As one of the most touching love songs that specifically revolves around distance, this piece reflects the singer’s envy and sadness with a strong, passionate voice.
Aaja (Ft. Droppedout, Gravity, The Rish): This song is full of fun, creating feelings of romance and guiding the listeners to sing and dance to the rhythm of the tunes.
Ghanan (Ft. Sanah Moidutty, Nakul Chugh): The music and lyrics of this song are all about rain and its joy and, therefore, the feeling of renewal and a fresh start, which gives this song the rightful place of the closing one in this EP.

Shreya Jain spoke about her creative experiences, the concept behind ‘Bawari’, and the promise to integrate Indian classical music into modern features. This is not just a set of songs and tracks that should be listened to, but an EP that desires to break boundaries.
