Shriya Pilgaonkar, a celebrated Indian actor, has recently been invited to be part of the jury for the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA). Pilgaonkar has a beautiful presence on the screen and has become part of popular movies or series such as Fan, Mirzapur, and The Broken News, and she will be judging the Shorts section at this festival.
Speaking on the opportunity to be a part of the IFFLA jury, Pilgaonkar said,
“This is a step closer to the dream of becoming an actor who works across the globe for international films and TV,”
he who may have had previous shooting experience in France and UK.
It’s like Christmas for the 35-year-old actor, especially the opportunity to explore South Asian cinema and filmmakers at the festival.
“I am looking forward that they will be presenting films that are culturally contextualized in line with the society we live in today… It is always inspiring to see a new breed of filmmakers at work,”
Pilgaonkar said.
Looking at the current crop of Muhurat Paying cups, Pilgaonkar said that with the recent success of Indian films worldwide, he sees more support for independent production houses in the country. She said: “It has been an exceptional year for me, there is much more need to offer better scholarships and funding to incorporate the talent.”
Regarding the jurors’ role that Pilgaonkar has got, she regards this as fine as it allows not only enjoying cinema but also learning and discovering one’s dreams about directing and producing.
